In short
Docucraft is local-first. Your documents and their text never leave your device unless you share them. There is no account and no cloud.
What stays on your device
Scanned documents are kept in the app’s private storage. The library, its folders, tags and search index are kept in a local database on your phone.
Scanning and text recognition run on the device, through Google’s ML Kit. Nothing is uploaded to be processed.
PDFs you open from other apps are opened in place. Docucraft keeps a reference to them and nothing else, until you choose to save them to your library.
What is collected
Docucraft sends usage events and crash reports through Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics, services provided by Google. They help find bugs and understand which features are used.
These never include your documents, their names, or their text.
Google Play services
The scanner and the text recognition models are provided by Google Play services. The first time you use them, Google Play services may download those models.
Sharing
A document leaves your device only when you share, print, export or open it with another app. What happens to it then depends on the app or service you choose.
Backups and deletion
The library is left out of Android’s Auto Backup on purpose. Deleted documents stay in the bin for 30 days and are then removed. Uninstalling the app removes its private storage.
Open source
Docucraft’s code is public under the GPL-3.0 license, so all of the above can be checked.
